Christ Light Unity welcomes Rev. Iris Petersen to the Board of Trustees

Bobbye Callas has been elected to another 3-year term as President of the Board.
She does an amazing job and we are fortunate to have her with us.
Dick Boro, outgoing member of the Board, is now our Congregation Representative. He will help lure prospective new board members next year.
Don Matthews is his new alternate. We welcome them both with enthusiasm!
Portland recently experienced some very cold and icy weather. Fortunately, there was no ice any Sunday in January.
We were able to celebrate without hitch!
The congregation continues to grow.

The Sunday messages are being recorded and CDs will be available every 60 days or so.

Christ Light Unity: A Short History
In 1988, Matthew and Kathy Long ran an advertisement in the Gresham (Oregon) Outlook about a Unity group forming. Around 50 people responded and they began to meet weekly at the Coachman Inn, now Quality Inn, on Burnside Street in Gresham. The group became Christ Light Unity. The starting of the new church allowed Matthew and Kathy to receive their minister's licenses. In 1988, they were given permission to use the Unity Association's EIN for Christ Light Unity. In 1990, the Longs applied for and received CLU's own EIN.
The church has moved a few times: a few special events in Troutdale (Oregon), the Gresham Mall, the Gresham Masonic Temple, St. Aiden's Episcopal Church, Encore Senior Village, and, Roberts Street.
Then, in 2003, Matthew and Kathy accepted a call to minister in Michigan, on the same day that papers were signed for CLU to purchase its first property on 205th Street in Fairview, Oregon. The property was sold in 2007 and the congregation moved to the Fairview Community Center, where we remain while we search for and hold a vision for a new property to house our growing community.
Our spiritual leaders include: Revs. Kathy and Matthew Long, founders; Rev. Hypatia Hasbrouck; a return of the Longs (1999-2003) Sandra Combs, licensed Unity teacher; Patty Williams, also a licensed Unity teacher; and Rev. Richard Matthews (current).
There have also been many guest speakers, including New Thought luminary James Dillet Freeman.
